Try, try again

Recently I stepped back from my current WIP, Hide and Seek, and took a long hard look at what I was doing and where the story was going, which felt like nowhere. Sometimes, as writers, we are too hard on ourselves and assume that every word we write is drivel and that no one in their right mind will want to read it. So, with this in mind, I stopped to regroup and ended up back at the beginning, for the third time.

To me, this means my outline was not strong enough, my hook was too weak, my characters main goal was murky. I was not enjoying my time writing, and it was showing.

At the drawing board, I outlined the main plot line along with multiple subplots in excel for about a week. Then I dove back in. Now, i'm about half way through the thirst, first draft version and I don't have enough time to write as much as I want. It's both a great and frustrating issue to have.

If at first you don't succeed, keep going. You'll find it eventually!
